"An actor ... must keep their eyes open to see what the other actor is doing moment to moment ... and act accordingly."
- David Mamet
INTERMEDIATE SCENE study CLASS
This class is exclusively for actors who have previously trained in Practical Aesthetics, either with PAA or at the Atlantic Acting School in New York. At this level, students continue putting their skills into practice by working on more challenging material and making their own directorial choices. The class focuses on exploring scenes at the level of each individual actor’s understanding of the process.
Actors are encouraged to work on roles that extend them beyond their "type" or safety zone, as well as the kinds of roles they would realistically be cast in. Included in the course will be work on high stakes scenes from plays and films of various styles and periods including comedy. We will explore deepening and expanding the PA process on longer and multiple character scenes, beat changes, incorporating externals (i.e. accents, specific physicalities, altered states) and trouble-shooting specific problems encountered in the profession or within the technique.
